Joop Swart Masterclass
Vanaf morgen vindt de jaarlijkse Joop Swart Masterclass, georganiseerd door World Press Photo, weer plaats in Amsterdam.
Het onderwerp voor de deelnemers van dit jaar is Pride (Trots). Voor een lijst van de deelnemers en "masters", zie onder.
Opmerkelijk is dat dit jaar wederom de deelnemers geselecteerd zijn uit Europa en Noord-Amerika, terwijl er ook telkens fotojournalisten uit andere werelddelen worden voorgedragen, maar zij worden genegeerd (alsof er buiten de westerse wereld geen jonge fotojournalisten van hoge kwaliteit rondlopen). Deze kwestie heeft er al toe geleid dat vooraanstaande personen in de fotojournalistiek (die jaarlijks fotografen voordragen voor de Joop Swart Masterclass) de WPP-organisatie rechtstreeks beschuldigd hebben van discriminatie.
